Battersea chess club is one of the oldest chess clubs and it was formed in 1885. They have many teams each participate in league matches of different Division. Also in London League and surrey League they participate and in that they have bagged many championships. Also for less experienced peoples such as new comers they train them and allow them to participate in Croydon League where they can get good knowledge about the game and experience. Once experienced they are allowed to participate in the First, Second Division Leagues.
This year, Battersea chess club bagged the championship in London League. They triumphed, because of their experienced players and also due to some guidance given by experts.
They will also conduct some tournaments and internal club championships such as rapid play, blitz tournament, gambit and some other casual games.
This Blitz tournament is conducted as 5 minute Blitz tournament where the opponent skills are tested and from all-play-all basis of ten rounds the winner is selected. In these tournaments the rules are framed as that of international chess competition and all the players are tested at its maximum level. Also they conduct one internal championship such as club championship and one tournament called Borrow Tournament.
Every Monday evening they will meet at “Balham Bows Club” pub in Ramsen Road between 7.30pm to 10.30 pm. All players who are interested to join and play chess are always welcomed and by joining they can develop their game and can reach higher levels easily.
